Ill Manors Website

The Ill Manors website includes many features that engage the potential target audience. Firstly the mise en scene of the website attracts the target audience very well by the colours, typography, and how there are options for the audience to explore the website of their choice. There are institutions at the bottom of the website which gives some details of who and by the film was made such as the studios involved, distributor etc. This is useful on a website as the audience would like know what companies the film was made by therefore they could relate it to other successful films. The typography at the top of the website sells its product by informing the audience to download or buy the film, this attracts the audience as the typography is in large, bold print and stands out from the website as it is white and the background is black. The colours used in the website are mainly black and white, dark which connotes dull, and may suggest mysterious or crime, the low key lighting used also suggests darkness, evil which may be one of the characters personalities and create enigma codes to the audience of what the film is going to be about. However the characters portrayed in the website do have some colour to make them stand out more also to attract the audience that these are the main characters especially the characters who seem to be standing in front look like the characters the audience should most focus on. Furthermore the blood on the fence is in colour which is red this connotes evil, death, darkness, this is to attract the audience as the film would have aspects of blood, the prop also relates to this as the main character on the left side is holding a gun which suggests he is powerful, evil, murderer, this prop clearly connotes that the film would contain violence/crime.

Moreover the website has options about the film on the left hand side to make the audience amused and to let them explore the options listed to make it more interactive so the audience do not get bored. The first option is the trailer, this is the Ill Manors trailer which is from ‘YouTube’ shown to the audience, I think this is useful to the audience as some of them do not know what the film is about therefore this would be significant to them as they could create an idea of what the film would be about exploring the genre, characters, music etc of the film. The use of synergy has been used as ‘YouTube’ is helping promote the film more worldwide to attract a wider audience. YouTube is a very popular website to watch any sorts of videos for entertainment, music, programmes etc therefore promoting the film trailer on ‘YouTube’ is an advantage for the film as it would get popular with audiences opinions about the trailer.

Furthermore the second option is about the synopsis of the film, again informing the audience of what the film would be about therefore the audience would have an idea of it. This is useful as some of the audience would like to read the storyline before watching the film to see if it entertains them, although they haven’t watched the film this synopsis can create enigma codes of what the audience maybe expecting in Ill Manor, it gives a chance for the audience to be exciting about the film.

The Third option in the website is about Ben Drew the director who created Ill Manors. The audience would find this information very useful as they would like to know who directed the film, also his background of what he does in the media industry which is being a music artist. The audience may know Ben Drew as Plan B a successful soul/rapper therefore the audience would be interested by Drew’s work and his opinion of what the film is about and why he had directed it. The information about Drew’s background such as awards and interests is very significant as the audience would like know what he does as a living and his purpose of making this film, there is also a quote by Ben Drew which attracts the audience as they would be tempted to read what he has said.

In addition the fourth and fifth options are stills (Images) and videos taken during the making of the film. The stills portrayed in the website how some characters who have acted in the film and images while making the film, this is attractive towards the audience as they would like to know who acted in the film, they would want to see how the characters look like. Furthermore the audience may realise some of the characters portrayed in this option and may compare these characters to other films they have acted in and suggest this film would be a good or bad film by the character they notice. There are three videos shown in the website to amuse the audience, the videos show people from the cast, one of Plan B’s music videos and meeting the main character. All these videos are for entertainment purposes for the audience so they are attracted to how the film and Drew’s work all came together. Additionally synergy has been used again as the videos are represented by ‘YouTube’.

More over that the sixth and seventh options talk about the Ill Manors DVD and links related to the film. The sixth options informs the audience that the film has been released out on DVD and Blu Ray, it allows the audience to decided whether they would like to buy the film or not. The use of synergy again has been used which is selling the product by informing the audience by the websites you could buy the film from such as ‘Play.com’. The seventh option explores the links of Ill Manors such as searching and finding more information about the film such as looking of ‘Facebook’ or ‘Twitter’ these websites/links are useful as the audience would like to know about the film more and explore sites.

The eighth option is about reactions which critics have made about the film, such as the sun and observer newspaper, music artists such as Alesha Dixon and etc. The audience would find this information very significant as they would like to know what other people thought of the film which would suggest them whether to watch the film or not. Also as some of the reactions have been mentioned by famous artists the audience would be more attracted and want to watch the film as they have made positive comments therefore they would suggest the film is good to watch. All the comments are positive and keep the audience amused, comments such as ‘Brilliant..Searing’ by list and ‘I recommend everyone see it!’ by Ed Sheeran are all positive comments which would make the audience want to see the film. There are also ratings of the film again makes the audience interested in watching the film.

Lastly the album option promotes the soundtrack to the film, which Ben Drew (Plan B) produced this creates a wider audience as music is being introduced to, the album is is also a synergy because it promotes the film. I think the audience aimed at the album and film would be wider as more audiences would become noticeable about the film and want to watch it. The website offers the audience options on how to purchase the album which lets the audience decide and want to buy the album to the film. It allows the audience to see Ben Drew’s work in music as well as his work in being a director.

Overall the website is very significant towards the audience as it has lots of useful information about the film Ill Manors and about the director Ben Drew (Plan B). The information provided gives ideas and enigma codes about the film making them more attracted to the film, the use of synergy is also very useful as the audience get a chance to explore all the different products produced for the film such as the album, links etc. The website engages and attracts the audience by the comments made by individuals and newspapers making the film look interesting.

Broadcast - Ill Manors DVD
On the Ill Manors website there is an link which says 'Buy now' this link lets the audience realise that the film has come out on DVD, moreover it also mentions where you could get the DVD from such as 'Amazon.com' this is called synergy as companies are promoting the film making a wider audience.

Print - Magazine
For the print I have found an article produced by Empire Magazine which talks about the narrative of the film and the director Ben Drew. This allows the audience to read the narrative of the film which makes them think whether to watch the film or not. Also allows the audience to refer to Ben Drew who is also an music artist therefore his film would become recognisable to a wider audience.

E-Media - Website
The E-Media would be the website to Ill Manors which is the link above. The website lets the audience explore and find information about the film, characters and director etc. This is useful as E-Media is a popular source (social network) that most of the target audience (young teenagers) go on therefore the film would become more recognisable and more people would be aware.
